GWOT-tjänstmedalj inte auktoriserad för Guantanamo Bay-tjänst

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOT-SM) är inte auktoriserad för tjänst på Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Kuba. Krav för GWOT-SM kräver direkt deltagande i utsedda antiterroroperationer (t.ex. Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom). Guantanamo Bay-tjänst faller under andra utmärkelser (t.ex. Armed Forces Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal).
